Participating in battle provides experience, and that allows them to unlock better skills and modify their mana pool. Throughout the match, players can land on any convenient spot on the map, which is entirely safe from the spell storm at the beginning of the game, and then they can search for treasures to collect items that improve their attributes and abilities. Choosing a character grants you with a set of abilities that you unlock during the match, and it also affects the equipped gauntlet to add additional effects to their powers. There are six classes for each of the elements, which are Frostborn, Conduit, Pyromancer, Toxicologist, Stoneshaper and Tempest. In Spellbreak, the players choose a class before the beginning of every match. Players can also use slots to add additional abilities to use, such as teleport or invisibility, to refine their playstyle even further. The spells are designed in the way that their effects can interact with each other, and that makes it possible to combine destructive forces to make them even more powerful. The game also allows you to combine different gauntlets, and that leads to exciting combinations and unobvious interactions. All gauntlets have primary and secondary attacks for example, flame weapon blasts rocket-like fireballs, or it can raise burning walls to damage everyone who goes through it. Each player can choose a gauntlet for each of the magic sources, which are ice, fire, earth, wind, poison and lightning. There are various styles, and you can select your core natural element, and that affects the primary weapon and the skillset. The primary source of power in this game are magical spells and effects. Some magical abilities may leave trails and marks on the ground, and opponents may track you down and ambush at any time. Players can run, dash, fly, levitate, jump and teleport around the area, and some of those methods consume mana, which is the core resource for all the spells and effects. The spell storm slowly shrinks over the area reducing the safe zone to force more players to encounter to limit the duration of each match. Spellbreak features a large map designated for the Battle-Royale game mode, where players fight to become the last survivor.
